About Us
Our Story: Why We’re Called Shidaa ?
Shidaa Foundation was founded on a powerful belief: every child deserves access to quality education. Our name “Shidaa” means thanksgiving in the Ga language of Ghana, West Africa—a daily reminder of our gratitude for the opportunity to support children in need.
Based in Canada with deep roots in Ghana, we’ve witnessed firsthand the barriers that prevent children from accessing basic education. Nearly half of the world’s children face learning poverty, lacking essential school supplies, books, and resources. We know that a simple backpack or set of pencils can transform a child’s educational journey.
Shidaa Foundation collects and distributes school supplies, backpacks, books, and stationery to students in Canada and Ghana. We break down geographic, economic, and cultural barriers to literacy, ensuring every child has the tools to build a brighter future. Education is not a privilege—it’s a fundamental human right.
