Who We Are ?
The Shidaa Foundation was born from a simple yet profound belief: every child deserves the chance to learn, to grow, and to build a brighter future. We chose the name “Shidaa” because it means thanksgiving in the Ga language of West Africa. For us, it’s a constant reminder of the gratitude we feel for the opportunity to make a difference.
We’re originally from Ghana, and now proudly based here in Canada. Our journey has shown us firsthand the incredible challenges many children face just to get a basic education. It’s heartbreaking to know that almost half the children in the world are still struggling to learn. We’ve seen how much a simple school supply can mean, and how far a bit of encouragement can go.
That’s why, from our home here in Canada, we’re dedicated to collecting donations of school supplies and stationery. We focus our efforts on supporting children in both Canada and Ghana, aiming to break down the geographic, economic, and cultural barriers that stand in the way of literacy and opportunity.
For us, education isn’t just a privilege; it’s a basic human right. We’re pouring our hearts into ensuring that every child, no matter where they are, has the tools they need to unlock their full potential and create a better tomorrow.
